At St Barnabas and St Paul’s we are proud of the many and varied languages spoken by our children. There are currently more than 12 different home languages spoken by our children including Urdu, Panjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Polish, Arabic, Kurdish and many more. We value each child’s home language and are honoured to have so many bi-lingual and multi-lingual children.
In order to access our full curriculum it is necessary for our children to become competent speakers of English. We support our children who are the early stages of learning English through the use of bilingual assistants, talk partners, EALIP and SEMA group, language groups (in Reception) and specialist language teachers (for newly arrived children from overseas in Years 1 to 6).
