EYFS
At St Barnabas and St Paul’s our EYFS department comprises of two Reception classes.
We follow the statutory requirements for the EYFS which can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/335504/EYFS_framework_from_1_September_2014__with_clarification_note.pdf
We have a balance of child initiated and adult led activities. The children have access to a range of indoor and outdoor continuous provision.
We follow the curriculum for the foundation stage and plan activities that are at the level of the children. By the end of the year our aim is for children to have achieved the Early Learning Goals, resulting in a Good Level of Development overall. The Early Learning Goals and the stages that precede them can be found at: https://www.foundationyears.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Development-Matters-FINAL-PRINT-AMENDED.pdf
This year we have undertaken the pilot of the NFER Baseline test with all our children at the start of the year. This test will become statutory from September 2020 and will be carried out by all reception children upon entry.
Please see class pages for more information about what is happening in Reception.
