Science Around School

Science Clubs

At St Barnabas and St Paul's we provide a variety of science clubs to develop our children's natural curiosity of the world around them and enhance their love of learning.

Eco Club

Throughout the year, Miss Duerden and Miss Baloch run an Eco Club. Our Eco Warriors meet once a week to share ideas, run campaigns and competitions across the school and hold regular assemblies to update our pupils. Recently, Eco Club has planted daffodils and created a bug hotel to provide a safe place for wildlife. They will soon be planting more trees around school. Eco Club also help to care for our environment by litter picking during lunchtimes.

Gardening Club

Each week, Mrs Harrison and Mrs Eddleston run an after school gardening club for our most green fingered pupils. Gardening club have been extremely busy this academic year and we will soon be able to see evidence of their hard work bloom as Spring approaches. This term, the pupils have planted a variety of flowers as well as vegetables including pansies, tulips, peas and potatoes. In Winter, the pupils decided to help our local wildlife by creating bird feeders.

STEM Club

This term, Mrs Haworth has been running a STEM club for Year 1 and 2 pupils. Our budding engineers have worked together to complete a variety of STEM challenges. These include bridge building with a variety of materials, exploring the effect of friction and magnets and creating tinfoil boats to support specific weights.
